Introduction
The International Federation of Musicians is an organisation comprising musicians’ unions, guilds and professional associations.
Position
They are interested in representing rightsholders and protecting musicians’ economic, social and artistic interests.
Allies
They work closely with WIPO, the International Labour Office and UNESCO. This influence makes them an important opponent. The FIM are allied with international and national organisations which represent workers in the media industry, such as IFPI and the MPA. They also work with collecting societies who are responsible for administering performers’ rights
