Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP)

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) is a trans-pacific free trade agreement aimed at creating favourable conditions between countries to encourage trade. The provisions in the agreement will not just be limited to tariffs and business practices, but affect other aspects of life. Signatory countries will have to reform their domestic laws and policies to conform with the agreements [1].

The negotiations have thus far been conducted in great secrecy, prompting many reactions from civil society and advocacy groups, congressmen etc.

On Wednesday 13 November 2013, Wikileaks published a draft of the intellectual property chapter.
