In his capacity as spokesperson for the ECRG on justice and home affairs, Mr. Kirkhope stated that "calls for explicit consent for internet use and the right to erasure...are potentially impractical and over-protective."[1] He has warned that the draft proposals for the General Data Protection Regulation "would create a more expensive and complicated internet, and more costly online services for consumers."[2]
