SWIFT

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) manages the communications between 212 countries and more than 10,000 financial institutions. [1] The communications include data that is proprietary, in other words original copyright information on financial matters that belong to the various actors involved.

The role of SWIFT is to provide a secure and reliable platform for the exchange of this information and thus work as a catalyst for the "financial community together to work collaboratively to shape market practice, define standards and consider solutions to issues of mutual interest." [2]
