Private Members' Bill

Note that a Private Members' Bill is not legislation being proposed by the government, but rather proposed by a member of parliament (i.e. an MP or sitting Lord). These bills rarely become legislation, but the debates may be a useful guide for future debates on a similar topic. However some legislation, such as the Computer Misuse Act 1990, was introduced by this method.
