ORG-tech-vols IRC meeting log 2014 04 16
(20:30:02) graphiclunarkid: Evening _guy, hellais, jimkillock, plett, vasilis, xarlekino - how are we all?
(20:30:29) vasilis: Hi graphiclunarkid, fine
(20:30:33) jimkillock: Hi there, good thanks
(20:31:34) graphiclunarkid: A few people are away for Easter at the moment so I think we should make a start & people can catch up from the logs later.
(20:32:37) graphiclunarkid: ORG's video campaign has gone live, as I mentioned on the list, but the dates seem to be a bit later than I was expecting. jimkillock: Do you have a launch date in mind for the video?
(20:33:06) jimkillock: I think we extended it as it seemed a large aount to raise …
(20:33:47) graphiclunarkid: jimkillock: That's fine - I'm just thinking about milestones for blocked.org.uk
(20:33:57) jimkillock: The launch would be after the end of the fund raising, so that’s currently planned to be in around a month and a bit, after the EU election
(20:34:34) jimkillock: If you aimed at launch by May 25 that would seem a good point
(20:34:37) graphiclunarkid: I set the milestone on github to be 21 May. I was hoping that'd be at least a week before the video launch. Does that sound about right.
(20:34:49) jimkillock: yes
(20:36:45) graphiclunarkid: Hmm. Github is refusing to tell me when the milestone is. It just says "in about a month". That's not very clever!
(20:36:55) graphiclunarkid: I'll make sure it's somewhere around then anyway.
(20:37:52) graphiclunarkid: I don't know whether plett is around. I haven't heard anything further about the A&A lines this week. I think they were all installed successfully last week. I expect they are working to set up VMs and routing. They will let us know when they're ready for us.
(20:39:23) graphiclunarkid: I spent some time this week creating issues for the middleware and front-end repositories and organising them into backlogs.
(20:39:42) graphiclunarkid: You can now see progress towards our next milestone here: https://waffle.io/openrightsgroup/blocking-middleware
(20:39:49) graphiclunarkid: (That's for the middleware).
(20:39:56) graphiclunarkid: Here's the board for the front-end:
(20:40:08) graphiclunarkid: https://waffle.io/openrightsgroup/blocked-org-uk
(20:41:02) graphiclunarkid: jimkillock: I tagged you in a couple of issues because I had questions about how you want some of the pages on the website to work.
(20:41:11) jimkillock: ok
(20:41:17) graphiclunarkid: The "join" and "contact" pages specifically.
(20:41:27) jimkillock: Not sure I noticed / understood that
(20:41:36) jimkillock: Isn’t join a link?
(20:41:40) graphiclunarkid: I think they should embed the relevant pages from ORG's website.
(20:41:58) jimkillock: ok, then Matt had it right I think
(20:42:25) graphiclunarkid: jimkillock: Not currently. I think it should be. But I also think keeping the blocked.org.uk navigation is a good idea since otherwise people might not realise they've left our site or know how to get back.
(20:42:26) jimkillock: Pull the data using getresources from the source page
(20:42:39) graphiclunarkid: Yes, Matt commented usefully, just wanted to see if you had any comments.
(20:43:11) jimkillock: Generally I’ve tended to just link back but I’m happy to try it this way
(20:43:16) graphiclunarkid: jimkillock: Would I be right in thinking we don't actually have "donate" buttons on org.org?
(20:43:25) graphiclunarkid: paypal, flattr, etc.
(20:43:35) jimkillock: not buttons but there is a page with a PP button
(20:43:50) jimkillock: https://www.openrightsgroup.org/donate
(20:44:39) graphiclunarkid: jimkillock: Ah, that's useful, thanks.
(20:45:04) graphiclunarkid: I don't see any reason to duplicate any of that on blocked.org.uk - unless we want to raise funds specifically for that project via its website?
(20:48:30) graphiclunarkid: I know vasilis has been away for a few weeks. We caught up earlier so I could fill him in on developments. vasilis - is there anything you want to bring up or ask now for us to discuss?
(20:52:07) vasilis: graphiclunarkid: You mentioned about a corp. that could provide us with Pis?
(20:53:12) graphiclunarkid: vasilis: Yes - I have asked a contact of mine whether his company would be willing to sponsor the project with some Raspberry Pis and possibly some data dongles and sim cards too.
(20:53:31) graphiclunarkid: They have said yes in principal and I now need to draw up a more detailed proposal for them to consider.
(20:53:50) graphiclunarkid: I've had to put it to one side for the last 10 days or so but I hope to get to it soon.
(20:55:54) graphiclunarkid: Cool. Well, I think that's everything from me. Does anyone have anything else to raise?
(21:00:03) graphiclunarkid: OK - let's call it an evening there then. Thanks jimkillock, vasilis - see you next time :-)
(21:00:58) vasilis: Thanks graphiclunarkid, see you around.
(21:23:20) jimkillock: Good evening :)
