...When in the very near future—as I hope—we move to a system of electronic voting, which must come and will come, that card could also be used as a voting card. You will not have a vote unless you have that card.

My Lords, does not my noble friend agree that surely in this modern age it is time that we moved towards electronic voting? It would allow anyone to vote in a variety of different places, and of course would include the disabled. Can we have an assurance that the Identity Cards Bill being introduced today will allow such voting to take place?
