Position

EPP is the European People’s Party. It is the largest party group in the European Parliament. They are interested in achieving greater protection for consumer rights. They also believe that economic rights “must be forcefully reasserted”, whilst maintaining that “freedom of education, research, enterprise and competition are individual rights and the basis of a strong and prosperous economy.” The Group have asserted that there “can be no justification for infringing these rights, which must, on the contrary, be further enhanced.” They believe that the European Union should guarantee “freedom of teaching, education, research, conditions for developing a freedom of spirit and the factors essential for a knowledge-based economy”.
