Council of Europe

The Council of Europe, not be confused with the European Union, is an international organisation promoting co-operation between European countries. Founded in 1949 , it has 47 member states and its main aims is the collaboration in legal standards, human rights, democratic development, the rule of law and cultural cooperation.

Perhaps the most well known body of the Council is the European Court of Human Rights.
