Voted against requiring pupils be taught about the risks and dangers of internet pornography, and about the new legal age requirement to access it provided for in the Bill. [1]

Investigatory Powers Act 2016

Voted for the Act at second and third readings.

Voted on a series of amendments on 6th and 7th June 2016 including:

• Voted for the mass retention of information on people's internet usage.

• Voted to allow the bulk interception of communications, equipment interference, and the retention and examination of bulk personal datasets, subject to certain safeguards.

• Voted for to allow a designated officer within the police or other specified public bodies to authorise a request for communications data rather than to require authorisation from a Judicial Commissioner.

• Voted to permit, with a warrant from a Secretary of State, the bulk interception of communications where either the sender or receiver is outside the British Islands.

• Voted to allow warrants permitting obtaining and examining the content of communications on economic and national security grounds where the information sought relates to the acts or intentions of persons outside the British Islands.

• Voted to allow a warrant for the interception or examination of communications to apply to an organisation's communications, rather than just to specific individuals or premises.

• Voted against additional protections against prosecutions for disclosing information to the Investigatory Powers Commissioner.

• Voted against creating a new public body called the Investigatory Powers Commission to oversee the use of investigatory powers.

• Voted against notifying people who have had their communications intercepted, communications data examined, or have been subjected to other investigatory techniques covered by the Bill that this activity occurred.
