Internet Advertising Bureau

(Redirected from Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB))

The Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) is a trade association, lobby group and putative self-regulatory body. Many of its members engage in cookie-based behavioural advertising and online profiling.

There are branches working in the UK, EU, USA and elsewhere. The US body is known as the "Interactive Advertising Bureau".

UK and EU Lobby activities

The IAB is currently actively working on the E-Privacy Directive which has been amended to try to impose a consent-model on online profiling. Implementation discussions, to work out how to provide consent, are taking place at the EU and UK. The IAB is promoting Your Online Choices - and its opt out mechanism - as a means to comply with the Directive.
