The Postcode Address File (PAF) is the database of UK postcodes. It is currently owned by the Royal Mail.
Post-privatisation ownership
Ministers are planning to sell-off the Royal Mail. It was hoped that the PAF, as a publicly-funded data set, would move to being managed as Open Data, but it will reportedly remain under the ownership of the Royal Mail.
