Talk:Communications Data Bill

Should the stuff about MITM attacks on TLS really be there? It's more likely that the channel 4 reporter just doesn't have a clue what he's talking about (at least that's the conclusion so far of a discussion we're having over at http://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/The-brittons-got-our-USA-SSL-man-in-the-middle-attack-software) GoddersUK (talk) 23:22, 2 July 2012 (BST)

It's not currently clear that TLS interception isn't being proposed. While there are numerous reasons why it would be unworkable in practice, I can guarantee that someone at the Home Office has a stack of glossy brochures from the manufacturers of interception equipment that will suggest otherwise. I've gone from initial scepticism at MITM being included, to actually suspecting it may be (at least as some future capacity.) LeeMaguire (talk) 01:37, 3 July 2012 (BST)

Fair enough. It's a somewhat scary thought, though! GoddersUK (talk) 18:45, 3 July 2012 (BST)
