Labour's executive committee told five MPs that they could not stand as Labour Party candidates in the next election following the expenses scandal. They may, however, stand as Independent, or with another party if they wish. These are David Chaytor MP, Margaret Moran MP and Elliot Morley MP, who have declared that they will be standing down anyway; Ian Gibson MP has already stood down and was replaced by a Conservative MP; finally, Jim Devine MP has not yet announced his plans.
